Welcome to The Mollsmyre East Lancashire Railway Photo Gallery.
It contains photo's taken on visits to The East Lancashire Railway.British Railways Passenger Services ended on the Bury to Rawtenstall section in 1972. In 1968,Prior to the closure of the line,The East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society was formed with a view to keeping the line operational,After years of negotiation with British Railways finally saw The line re-open on 25th July 1987 between Bury and Ramsbottom.Today The East Lancashire Railway operates between Rawtenstall and Heywood and can boast being one of the best in the u.k.
This site is dedicated to all the people that give up their time to make the East Lancs Railway what it is today,Thank You.

The East Lancashire Railway operates every weekend throughout the year.
You travel along the 12 miles line from Heywood to Rawtenstall,calling at Bury,Summerseat, Ramsbottom,Irwell Vale and Rawtenstall.
This line comes Highly recommended,and is well worth a visit.The volunteer staff at the railway will make you feel very welcome.
Make an effort,Pay the East Lancs Railway a visit.You wont be disappointed.

I was employed by British Rail for about 11yrs then spent about 8 years driving buses and coaches. Strangely enough it never occurred to me to take photographs at the time, and now with hindsight I bitterly regret not doing so as nearly all of the companies I was employed by have either disappeared or changed beyond recognition, The Railway included.
I am presently driving HGV's for a living and spend what spare time I have photographing, and filming. My main interest lie in Preserved Buses and Heritage Railways. Although I am never far away from my camera's and will Photograph and Video just about anything of interest. I can at best be called a keen amateur Photographer and enjoy capturing the momment,and hopefully you will enjoy looking at them.
